Kriti Greta Singhee is a designer who graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata, and completed her master's degree at Istituto Marangoni in Milan. She has gained valuable experience working for various fashion designers and houses in Milan, Paris, New York, and Bahrain before returning to India in 2021 to launch her womenswear and menswear designer label. Natural and organic fabrics containing banana, hemp, muslin, varieties of mulberry silk, tissues, cashmere, and organza in various counts are experimented with. The designer works closely with communities, artisans, and weavers from craft clusters in West Bengal, Rajasthan, Jammu, and Kashmir. Four years post-pandemic, social dynamics and lifestyles have fundamentally changed. The environmental and social impacts of human activities created a shift in the mindsets of consumers, fostering a deeper reflection on our choices. Having experienced the 2020 pandemic in Milan, the designer was inspired to explore more sustainable techniques and practices rooted in environmental consciousness. Techniques such as paper folding, inspired by origami, were employed in the collection to transfer patterns, textures, and forms onto fabric. The intrinsic process of the innovative technique of plissé, or fabric folding, makes the textile extremely special—unique wearable art meant to last in the wardrobe for a very long time. The designer’s philosophy is to create meaningful clothing that pays tribute to our heritage and culture in the changing contemporary world while also being sustainable and conscious of environmental impact and climate change. The designer aims to uplift artisans and society as a whole through individual, artistic, and altruistic approaches, embracing the philosophy of progressive luxury.She envisions reinventing innovative techniques, textiles, costumes, and designs in women's and men's wear while honoring heritage and craftsmanship, yet maintaining relevance to modern living. Sustainable and ethical fashion is vital in creating a positive impact on the environment and people. A commitment to sustainability, honesty, and responsibility in creating a better future while protecting the planet and standing in solidarity with all people is a core part of the designer’s vision.

Where it All Began Kriti’s journey into the world of fashion began in the softest, most personal way—through her grandmother’s hands. At 14, she learned embroidery from her, absorbing not just a skill but a philosophy: that time, care, and intention are what make something truly beautiful. From embroidering home décor to designing her own clothes, her teenage years were stitched with creativity and curiosity. At just 16, she was awarded the Raffles Designer of the Year 2010—an early glimpse of the visionary she would become. Her path led her from NIFT to the fashion capital of Milan, earning a scholarship at the prestigious Istituto Marangoni. Along the way, she worked with renowned international labels, showcasing collections in New York, Paris, and Milan. But eventually, the call to build something of her own—a brand that stood for more—led to the birth of Kriti Greta Singhee, with ateliers in both Milan and India.
